Cases of observations from the ground

These testimonies belong to the world of the aeronautics
and the phenomena were observed in the daytime.

Observed phenomenon at Tananarive ( in August 16, 1954 )

This phenomenon was observed by several witnesses' hundreds.

At 17 o'clock, while the staff of the agency of Air France waits for the arrival of the mail, somebody perceives in the sky a "
big green ball " moving in big speed. The first thought of the witnesses is that it is about a meteorite. The phenomenon disappears behind a hill, they think that the green ball is going to collide the ground and that they are going to perceive the shock of it.

It reappears nevertheless one minute later. In passing full fault of the observers, it shows to be " a sort of metal rugby ball preceded by a green lens sharply removed with flying sparks escaping behind ". According to the estimation of the witnesses, the "balloon" had the length a plane DC4, that is about forty metres. The green lens got loose in front in a little less than 40 m, with behind rather long flying sparks. The machine glanced through Tananarive at a height estimated from 50 to 100 m, an estimation made possible compared with the height of a neighbouring hill. As the machine moved, the lights of shops went out, and animals showed a real anxiety.

Having glanced through Tananarive, the machine restarted westward. In passing over the park with zebus of the city, the machine provoked among them a violent reaction of fear. Surprising detail, because at normal time these animals showed no emotion to the passage of the planes of Air France. Two or three minutes later, an identical machine was observed in 150 km from there over a firm school. Even there, crowds were taken by panic. If the observed machine was the same that that of Tananarive, its speed should be of the order of 3000 kph. In to say about the staff of Air France, the general Fleurquin, commander-in-chief in Madagascar, gathered a " scientific committee " to lead an inquiry on these phenomena. No track of this inquiry was able to be found in the archives of the Air Force, however n°6 of the bulletin of the GEPA (Group of Studies of the Aerospace Phenomena) of the 2-nd half of the year 1964 described this observation.
