The exceptions of clarified phenomena.

The cases reported in the previous chapters remained unexplained, in spite of the wealth of their data. Such cases are minority. Many observations of air phenomena done in France, which the witnesses not explain and relate in the police force, are clarified after a short inquiry. The causes are the Moon of it, planets, aircrafts, meteorological balloons, reflections of motor lighthouses on clouds, etc...
And more rarely cases of hoax.

The inquiry sometimes gives more unusual explanations, as tells it these two examples.

A STRANGE OBJECT CROSSES A HIGHWAY ( IN SEPTEMBER 29, 1988 )

A garage owner circulating on the highway Paris-Lille sees an enormous red ball crossing the road in some dozens meters of him and running below. Throwing brilliant reflections and surrounded with a dense smoke, it finally stopped in a field. Disturbed by this disturbing observation, the garage owner is going to report it to the policemen of the highway. The police force, under the order of the Prefect, neutralizes then the highway and the zone of several kilometers around the object. The main witness and his family are driven to the hospital, where they undergo a series of exams. Agents of the civil security and the military security make on the scene of the accident, provided notably with Geiger counters. One waited indeed, in this period, for the fall of the soviet satellite Cosmos 1900, equipped with an electronuclear generator, and precise orders had been given. Consulted, the CNES clarifies rather quickly that at the same moment Cosmos 1900 glances through the Indian Ocean. Does the red ball come from the space?

Moving with precaution, by watching their detectors of nuclear brilliance, the specialists of the security approach a sphere of 1,50 m of about diameter. Under the powerful lighting of projectors, they see that it carries no track of heatings and considerable mechanical effects which produces a comeback in the ground atmosphere. It seems intact, and small mirrors cover the surface. Near it neither smoked, nor radioactivity.

One will learn later that this sphere, intended to serve as accessory in Jean - Michel Jarre's concert, fell from the lorry which took it in London. The small mirrors stuck on the envelope in polystyrene were intended to reflect the brilliant effects of the spectacle...

AN INTENSE LIGHT IN DOMBES'S VILLAGE ( IN MARCH 10, 1979 )

On March 13, 1979, the local brigade of a small village of Dombes is alerted by an inhabitant who declares to have observed in the night from 10 till 11 March an unidentified flying object over the conglomeration. During its inquiry, the brigade collects on the whole four testimonies, among which three are totally independent some of the others. The first witness, the restaurant owner in the village, describes the phenomenon as the brilliant mass, of bluish and purplish color, shape slightly oval and about fifteen meters in length. The luminous intensity is such as the place of the village is enlightened as in broad daylight, so much that the public lighting, the ignition of which is automatic, goes out. Two other witnesses who are in car near the village, report that this brilliant mass preceded their vehicle on the road in 2 m by distance about. They clarify to the policemen that this light went brutally out after a fire of orange-colored declared itself on each side of the light. Finally a fourth witness, to pisciculturist, tells to have been woken by a deaf and observed noise an intense bluish light. The next day, all the fishes of one of the ponds of sound of exploitation, catfish, are found dead. The presence of an electric line overhanging the pond allows to the policemen to direct their inquiry to the phenomena of electric origin.

The GEPAN / SEPRA makes also during the inquiry which it leads on the spot some days later. It is fast noticed that the electric line of 10 kV overhanging the pond melted. The information supplied by EDF allows to demonstrate that (this line dating around thirty years) the corrosion and the oxidation of the aluminum threads provoked credibly an effect of bow of power of the line, doubtless conjugated to that of the effect crowns. This explains on one hand the bluish light and the noise agreed by the witness and on the other hand the extinction of the public lighting. The light was indeed intense enough to activate the photoelectric cell of command, which is placed near the line in fusion.

Finally, fishes died poisoned by the drops of aluminium which fell in the pond during the fulfillment of these electric phenomena.
